Hubert Stavoren, located in the north of the Netherlands, is a hidden gem in the Dutch manufacturing industry. As leading player in the global markets for water treatment equipment, Hubert’s focus is on high quality equipment with a long service life. Hubert has over 150 years of experience in design, engineering, manufacturing, installation and service of equipment for water purifications and water intake. Hubert’s water intake systems are used in many industries, the equipment finds its application in for instance: power generation (nuclear plants, hydro-electric power stations), oil refining, chemical processes and desalination plants.
Hubert is currently organized in four divisions, one of the divisions is water intake systems. The market for water intake systems is very dynamic, highly competitive and has been changing a lot over the last decades. In order to improve Hubert’s understanding of its market environment, it was essential to get clear insight in market potential, key competitors and buying criteria. Hammer supported Hubert with an extensive market and competitor analysis.

In order to arrive at the required insights, several research methods have been combined. After an intensive period of desk-research, all the collected information was analyzed and sorted. Next, our assumptions were challenged with several experts within the field during workshop sessions. Our initial findings have been checked with industry experts from Europe, APAC and the MENA region. Also, for the markets with lower data availability, predictive analytics and data modeling was used to reconstruct the specific situation.
